Gereyev admitted his guilt and cooperated with the investigation. The criminal case was opened on January 26, 2025, on the fact of arson of a relay cabinet on the Ryazan direction of the Moscow Railway. The student was detained on January 30 and charged with a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.
According to the investigation, Gereyev, who has a complete secondary education, managed to contact unidentified persons from Ukraine via Internet messengers. The perpetrators convinced him to commit arson, causing material damage to Russian Railways and creating a threat to the safety of passengers.
The investigation is currently in its final stages, awaiting the results of a psychological and psychiatric examination. Despite the confession, there are no plans to mitigate the preventive measure. Gereyev faces up to 20 years in prison, TASS reports.
On April 14, it became known that a Moscow court had remanded in custody a student at Polytechnic College No. 8, Gereyev, who was accused of setting fire to a relay cabinet on the railroad.
