The NAO commented on the extension of the maternity capital program

The State Duma has adopted a law extending the maternity capital program until December 31, 2030, the official website of the Assembly of Deputies of the NAO reports. The President of Russia proposed extending the program during his Address to the Federal Assembly.

According to State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, after the law is passed, another five million Russian families will be able to take advantage of state support: "It is important that from February 1, the amount of maternity capital was indexed again: it will amount to 690 thousand rubles for the first child and almost 222 thousand rubles for the second. If the family did not receive a certificate for the first child, they are entitled to 912 thousand rubles for the birth of the second."

As noted by Irina Pudovkina, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Assembly of Deputies on Social Policy, systematic work aimed at improving the demographic situation continues: "The President of Russia called the demographic issue one of the key ones for the Russian Federation and many countries around the world. Currently, various support measures are in effect in the country, including a single allowance for families with children, maternity capital, family mortgages, and numerous regional guarantees. But it is necessary to further develop mechanisms that will help increase the birth rate and increase the number of large families. The adoption of the law on extending maternity capital is an important step in solving these problems."
