Vilfand stated that people were the cause of global warming on Earth

Greenhouse gas emissions play a decisive role in climate change.

The scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, stated that the main reason for the increase in global temperatures is human activity, not natural climate phenomena such as El Niño. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Vilfand noted that today it is greenhouse gas emissions that play a decisive role in climate change.
According to the meteorologist, the anthropogenic factor significantly exceeds the impact of natural processes. He also recalled that the La Niña phenomenon, accompanied by a decrease in temperature in the equatorial zone of the Pacific Ocean, is currently in a neutral phase.
Vilfand added that it is unlikely that a pronounced climate phase will develop before the end of autumn, and also mentioned El Niño, a phenomenon opposite to La Niña that is associated with warming of the Pacific Ocean waters and can affect the global climate system.
Earlier, scientist Vladimir Kattsov reported that Russia is warming up 2.5 times faster than the rest of the planet.
