'Child of a worker' Yılmaz Özdil: Whatever the worker wants in Izmir should be given

Journalist Yılmaz Özdil stated that he was a "child of a worker" and said , "Whatever the worker wants in Izmir, he should be given those conditions by force, it is that simple."

Collective labor agreement negotiations involving approximately 23 thousand employees in affiliated companies of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality failed to yield results, and workers went on strike. Mayor Cemil Tugay and many people from the municipality attempted to collect the accumulated garbage, and the striking workers and the union accused Tugay of strikebreaking.

Özdil from Sözcü commented on the strike as follows:

* Those who declare the mayor, the people of Izmir and me as enemies of the workers should listen carefully. I have read the indictment regarding the CHP congress. One of those who has been banned from politics is Cemil Tugay.

* A mayor who was accused of committing a crime so that Özgür Özel could become the party leader, who is the mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Was Tugay the mayor when that congress took place? No. The district mayor.

* So, the mayor of a district in Izmir can set up a plot to elect the CHP leader. Those who think that the incident in Izmir is a union right should respond to this.

* They will package Tugay with the workers' issue. Some so-called opposition media accuse Tugay of strikebreaking. Who are these Kılıçdaroğlu media? The target of the fight in the CHP is also Izmir.

* Those idiots who accuse me of being an enemy of workers should listen carefully. I speak as Yılmaz Özdil, the child of a worker, who is the owner of these words.

* I will express it this way that the strike in Izmir has nothing to do with labor or workers' rights. By God and by God, the workers should be given the same amount of money they want.

* Whatever the worker wants, those conditions must be given under duress, it is that simple. That is why I did not share any social media posts or write any articles about this issue in the first five days of the strike.

* A DİSK member friend said , "You give us what we want or we will go and vote for the AKP." This statement has nothing to do with union rights. This is evidence that a political operation was carried out against the İzmir Municipality. If I were the DİSK chairman, I would dismiss him.

* They are doing this so that the AKP can win Izmir. I am not on the money side of the matter. Workers should be given their due. The man clearly says: “We are doing this operation to make people look bad before the holiday.”

* Not a single anti-labor mayor has governed this city. Now they have come and are trying to give lessons to Izmir.

* During the period when Kılıçdaroğlu and Özel were party leaders, they crossed out worker-friendly deputies. They brought in people who did not know the neighborhoods of İzmir, who did not live in İzmir, and made them deputies from İzmir. This is what was supposed to happen.
