BREAKING NEWS: FIRST STEP FOR NEW YORK'S FIRST MUSLIM MAYOR MAMDANI, TRUMP'S THREAT OF DEPORTATION

According to the latest news from the United States on Tuesday night, New York State Assembly member Zohran Mamdani has won the Democratic Party's nomination for Mayor of New York City, a significant step toward becoming the first Muslim American to run for America's largest city.
The Trump administration has hinted that it may revoke Zohran Mamdani 's US citizenship as part of a crackdown on foreign-born citizens accused of certain crimes.
REASON: 'POSSIBLE SUPPORT FOR TERRORISM'
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president is considering an investigation into Republican Congressman Andy Ogles' call to revoke Mamdani's citizenship, alleging that Mamdani "may have supported terrorism and concealed it" while he was naturalizing.
Mamdani, 33, was born to Ugandan parents of Indian descent and became a US citizen in 2018. She has attracted national attention and controversy for her outspoken support for Palestinian rights.
TRUMP THREATENS TO ARREST
"Then we're going to have to arrest him," President Trump said on Tuesday, responding to a question about Mamdani's call to block undercover ICE agents from deporting immigrants.
Mamdani then shared the following on social media:
The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put me in a detention camp, and deported. Not because I broke any laws, but because I stood up to ICE's terrorization of our city.
Mamdani said Trump's threats were a target on democracy and an attempt to silence those who spoke out.

CAME TO THE USA AT AGE 7
Born in Kampala, Uganda, on October 18, 1991, 33-year-old Mamdani moved to South Africa with her family at the age of 5, and to New York, USA, at the age of 7.
Mamdani, who claims his Muslim identity, worked as a bankruptcy prevention consultant in the first years of his career, and was particularly active in campaigns for low-income homeowners.
THERE ARE HIP-HOP SONGS
He was also interested in hip-hop music, releasing rap songs under the stage name 'Mr. Cardamom'.
In October 2024, he announced his candidacy for Mayor of New York City in 2025.
The response program includes progressive policies such as free busing, a rent freeze, public child care, municipal supermarkets and a $ 30 per hour minimum wage by 2030.

HER WIFE IS AN ARTIST OF SYRIAN ORIGIN
Mamdani, along with his wife of Syrian origin, 27-year-old illustrator and ceramic artist Rama Duwaji, are frequently the target of Islamophobic outbursts.
The couple said they met on a dating app called Hinge. Mamdani said "dating apps still work"
They got engaged in Dubai in October 2024; they got married in a civil ceremony in New York in February 2025.
RESPONSE TO ONLINE HARASSMENT
They went public with their marriage in response to online harassment.
Rama Duwaji's works often centre around Middle Eastern themes, social justice and women's rights .
He made drawings that particularly drew attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza; he came to the fore with his hunger-themed animation that he shared on Instagram Reels.
Emphasizing the role of art in reflecting the spirit of the times, Duwaji says, "The role of an artist is to reflect the times."
PALESTINE ISSUE 'CENTER OF IDENTITY'
Both inside and outside of politics, Mamdani describes the Palestinian issue as "central to his identity."
Mamdani has been strongly involved with pro-Palestinian movements at various events in New York , for example appearing on stage at comedian Ramy Youssef’s show alongside Mahmoud Khalil, the pro-Palestinian protest leader who was arrested by Donald Trump.
Mamdani also said that while Israel's frequent attacks on Palestine were a violation of international law, "I would be uncomfortable supporting any state that has a religion-based citizenship hierarchy."
