Minister Uraloğlu: The number of passengers using airways in 5 months has approached 85.5 million

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the airline aircraft, passenger and cargo data of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) for May 2025 in a written statement. Noting that the number of aircraft landing and taking off at airports was 85,368 on domestic lines and 82,587 on international lines, Uraoğlu said, "Thus, total aircraft traffic reached 215,808, including overflights. Compared to the same month in 2024, there was a 7.3 percent increase in total aircraft traffic, including overflights."

'21 MILLION 170 THOUSAND 171 PASSENGERS TRAVELED IN ONE MONTH'

Minister Uraloğlu stated that domestic passenger traffic was 8 million 480 thousand 582 and international passenger traffic was 12 million 677 thousand 712 in May. Noting that a total of 21 million 170 thousand 171 passengers traveled, including direct transit passengers, Uraloğlu said, "There was a 3.7 percent increase in total passenger traffic, including direct transit, compared to the same month of the previous year. In the said month, the amount of cargo carried on domestic lines reached 437 thousand 863 tons in total, with 72 thousand 792 tons on domestic lines and 365 thousand 71 tons on international lines."

Uraloğlu noted that in the January-May period, the number of aircraft landing and taking off at the airports was 365,145 on domestic lines and 318,618 on international lines, thus reaching a total of 910,988 aircraft traffic including overflights. Noting that the total aircraft traffic served during the said period, including overflights, increased by 6.5 percent compared to the same period last year, Uraloğlu made the following statements in his statement:

"During this period, when domestic passenger traffic was 37 million 264 thousand 358 and international passenger traffic was 48 million 91 thousand 649, airports across Turkey served a total of 85 million 420 thousand 438 passengers, including direct transit passengers, approaching 85.5 million passengers. When the passenger traffic served at the end of May 2025 is compared to the same period in 2024; there was a 3.5 percent increase in total passenger traffic, including direct transit. During the period in question, airport freight traffic reached a total of 1 million 869 thousand 382 tons, with 329 thousand 668 tons on domestic lines and 1 million 539 thousand 714 tons on international lines. "

'ISTANBUL AIRPORT SERVED 31 MILLION 898 THOUSAND 425 PASSENGERS'

Minister Uraloğlu stated that aircraft traffic at Istanbul Airport reached 46,556 in total in May, with 10,596 on domestic lines and 35,960 on international lines. Uraloğlu also noted that Istanbul Airport served 6 million 962 thousand 534 passengers in total, with 1 million 500 thousand 123 on domestic lines and 5 million 462 thousand 411 on international lines. Explaining that in the January-May period, there was a total of 212 thousand 978 aircraft traffic at the airport in question, with 46 thousand 257 on domestic lines and 166 thousand 721 on international lines, Uraloğlu said, "There was a total of 31 million 898 thousand 425 passenger traffic, with 6 million 386 thousand 510 on domestic lines and 25 million 511 thousand 915 on international lines."

Providing information about the passenger traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Uraloğlu said, "In May, passenger traffic was 1 million 774 thousand 271 in domestic lines and 2 million 174 thousand 184 in international lines, totaling 3 million 948 thousand 455. Aircraft traffic was 9 thousand 682 in domestic lines and 13 thousand 82 in international lines, totaling 22 thousand 764."

Uraloğlu stated that a total of 105,278 aircraft traffic was carried out at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in the 5-month period, 43,868 in domestic lines and 61,410 in international lines, and that a total of 18,056,325 passenger traffic was served, 7,757,023 in domestic lines and 10,299,302 in international lines.

Uraloğlu also reported that Istanbul Ataturk Airport aircraft traffic was 2,546 in the month in question and 10,885 in the five-month period.

'TOURISM CENTERS HOSTED 16 MILLION 334 THOUSAND 49 PASSENGERS IN 5 MONTHS'

Minister Uraloğlu noted that the number of passengers served at airports in tourism centers reached 16 million 334 thousand 49 in total in 5 months, 6 million 686 thousand 715 in domestic flights and 9 million 647 thousand 334 in international flights. Minister Uraloğlu stated that there was a total of 119 thousand 336 aircraft traffic, 55 thousand 89 in domestic flights and 64 thousand 247 in international flights, and continued his statement as follows:

"In the 5-month period, 4 million 357 thousand 154 passengers were served at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, 9 million 565 thousand 963 passengers at Antalya Airport, and 1 million 218 thousand 131 passengers at Muğla Dalaman Airport. While a total of 918 thousand 20 passengers were served at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, a total of 274 thousand 781 passengers were served at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport."
