Warning before Eid: Do not sharpen knives in the streets

Denizli Tradesmen and Craftsmen Chambers Union (DESOB) Secretary General Yunus Emre Gönç made important warnings to citizens ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha . Emphasizing that unregistered knife sharpening and meat chopping services on the streets pose serious risks to public health, Gönç drew attention to the fact that registered tradesmen should be preferred in holiday shopping and preparations.
Stating that citizens should prefer registered tradesmen when meeting their needs in the market that is bustling before the holiday, Gönç said that it is important for services such as knife sharpening and meat mincing to be provided under expert and hygienic conditions. Drawing attention to the fact that unregistered workers operate by disregarding health rules, Gönç said that this situation negatively affects both public health and the economy.
DESOB Secretary General Gönç, referring to the fact that uncontrolled knife sharpening operations carried out on the street can cause serious injuries, stated that citizens should not receive such services from uncontrolled areas. In addition, Gönç, pointing out that transactions carried out with unregistered service providers may also have legal consequences, said, “There may be penal sanctions due to tax loss. In the event of a dispute, not being able to find someone to talk to may also victimize our citizens.”
Minced Meat Made in Unsanitary Conditions is a Great DangerGönç, who emphasized that the meat mincing process carried out outdoors in environments that do not comply with hygiene rules during this period when the summer heat is effective, poses a great threat to public health, asked citizens to be more conscious about this issue. Gönç, who stated that factors such as inadequate cleaning of mincing machines and not performing the process at the appropriate temperature can lead to food poisoning, drew attention to the importance of choosing businesses that provide service under appropriate conditions by experts.
Citizens’ Support is Important for Registered TradesmenGönç, who stated that the relevant institutions continue to monitor unregistered workers, emphasized the importance of citizens supporting this process. “We continue our monitoring and warnings, but our citizens should also contribute to this process by not preferring unregistered workers,” said Gönç, adding that registered tradesmen provide service throughout the year and are reliable in terms of quality and hygiene.
