Firefighters battling the flames rested on the astroturf pitch

A forest fire that broke out in the Kestel district of Bursa spread, fueled by strong winds. The flames quickly spread to the Gürsu district. 1,765 residents in three neighborhoods, each with 480 households, were evacuated as a precaution. Firefighting efforts continued throughout the night.

According to Bursahayat, fire, forestry, and gendarmerie personnel worked tirelessly throughout the night to contain the blaze. During a brief break after the flames subsided, some personnel tried to unwind by sleeping on the astroturf pitch in their firefighting gear.

The personnel returned to their duties after a short rest.
