22 courthouse officials detained in Çorum

It was announced that some public personnel working at the Sungurlu Courthouse were detained on allegations of bribery and embezzlement as part of the investigation conducted by the Çorum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

In a written statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that information was obtained that some public officials working in the Sungurlu Courthouse's Judicial and Execution Bureau were involved in transactions aimed at postponing or closing cases illegally by providing financial benefits in favor of those who were sentenced to prison based on final judgments, even though the legal conditions were not met.

The statement included the following statements:

"Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Çorum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, information has been obtained that some public officials working in the Office of Judgment and Execution of Judgements in the Sungurlu Courthouse have attempted to postpone or close the judgement file in an unlawful manner by obtaining material benefits in favor of individuals who were sentenced to imprisonment based on final judgments, even though the legal conditions were not met. In this context, the Çorum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has decided to detect the communication in accordance with the articles 135 and 140 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and in line with the investigation conducted, at the moment when the material benefit was obtained by the judicial law enforcement officers of the Çorum Provincial Police Department KOM Branch Directorate, individual public officials were caught red-handed and 22 suspects, including AA, who served as the Chief Clerk of the Sungurlu Courthouse, were arrested for the crimes of 'Embezzlement', 'Bribery', 'Extortion by Persuasion', 'Fraud by Using Public Institutions and Organizations as a Tool' as the main perpetrator and the aiding officers. "He was arrested and detained on suspicion of having committed the crime. The investigation is continuing meticulously and in a multifaceted manner."
