The life of Antonio Molero, Fiti in 'Los Serrano', in 2025: his current status, his wife, and why he shuns fame.

The life of Antonio Molero, Fiti in 'Los Serrano', in 2025: his current status, his wife, and why he shuns fame.

More than two decades after the premiere of 'Los Serrano' , many viewers still remember the legendary Telecinco series that captivated Spain during its more than 140 episodes. Unforgettable characters such as Diego (Antonio Resines), Guille (Víctor Elías) , Teté (Natalia Sánchez), Marcos (Fran Perea), Eva (Verónica Sánchez) and Lucía (Belén Rueda) were among the most popular series released in the early 2000s.

Among the residents of the Santa Justa neighborhood, some won the public's affection more than others. This is the case of the iconic Fructuoso Martínez (Antonio Molero) , better known as Fiti , a mechanic and close friend of Antonio Resines' character, whom we regularly saw at the Hermanos Serrano Tavern or trying to help his son Raúl (Alejo Sauras) in his adventures during the eight seasons the series ran. His expressions like "mostly" and "what has been" were unforgettable.

The actor in charge of bringing this legendary supporting role to life was Antonio Molero , whom we'd previously seen in other projects such as 'Médico de familia' , 'Periodistas', and 'Compañeros'. However, unlike his other castmates, we've seen very few television appearances of the Toledo-born actor in recent years, whose life changed radically after his success on the small screen.

Shunning the spotlight and focusing on his career as a theater actor with small roles on television, Molero's life is very different from what it was two decades ago, when his face was nationally known. We tell you what happened to the "Los Serrano" artist and what we know about his life today.

The change in her life with the success of 'Family Doctor' and 'Los Serrano'

Unlike other actors, Antonio Molero has never felt comfortable in sectors like film and television. However, despite his preference for theater, his greatest success ultimately came through his appearances on the small screen, first as Hipólito "Poli" Moyano in "Médico de familia" and later as Fructuoso "Fiti" Martínez in "Los Serrano."

"I was thrilled with doing theater, and television was almost an accident. It was incredibly difficult... It changed my life overnight ," the Toledo-born actor said in an interview with 'El Español,' where he explained that he wasn't "aware of the impact this role would have." "Suddenly, you go from being anonymous to being known by everyone. It's hard because you don't understand the magnitude of it. You can't go out, " revealed the actor, who shuns fame.

His portrayal of Fiti cemented his image as a relatable and down-to-earth actor. "Sixteen years later, people still remember Fiti..." the actor explained in an interview with the newspaper 'AS'. "Now, with social media, a lot of people send me clips, and sometimes I look at them... It's been a long time, and I barely remember ," he told Cadena SER, where he noted that "these are shooting-star characters. This profession is a long-distance race ."

During his time on 'Los Serrano,' his fame once again became central to his life. However, Molero took advantage of the opportunity to take on other roles, such as voicing Frozone in 'The Incredibles.' "Listening to the original helps a lot, but you shouldn't imitate, just do your best," he said on 'Los 40.'

Antonio Molero's latest works in television and theater

Despite his television fame, Antonio Molero never left the stage. "The theater is where I started and where I trained... I'm still like in a dream," he told Telemadrid. The actor has participated in more than twenty productions, the latest of which was "Picasso's Barber."

The actor will be at the Teatro Español until July 20th working on this comedy, which he stars in alongside Mar Calvo, José Ramón Iglesias, and Pepe Viyuela . He also announced on social media that he will be returning to the show "Luces de Bohemia" next year.

Of course, Antonio Molero has also continued to dedicate himself to television. In 2016, he landed the opportunity to appear on 'Amar es para siempre' (Love is Forever) , where he played Benito Guerrero Nieto for a whopping 496 episodes. "Going through it is the most insane thing I've ever done in my career. The military service of actors . I tried to rest at every break... because I couldn't. Between sequences, I managed to sleep a little. I confess: I began to appreciate this type of series when I learned about the work that goes into them," he told AISGE.

The Toledo-born actor admitted to feeling "some prejudice" toward soap operas before embarking on this project, which he worked on for two years: " I thought they were shows for older women . But now I take my hat off, and I have a memory of every episode."

In recent years, Antonio Molero has been part of the cast of television series such as 'Madres: Amor y Vida' and '4 Estrellas' , where he once again worked with Antonio Resines. Next year, he is scheduled to premiere 'El vestido' , a horror film directed by Frank Ariz and Jacob Santana, in which he reunites with Belén Rueda.

The relationship with his wife and two children

Away from the stage, Antonio Molero tries to lead a quiet life with his family. For years, his greatest support has been Katia Bárbera , his partner and manager, with whom he has two children, Alejandro and Jimena , who are not looking to follow in his footsteps.

"They're doing their thing. The oldest, who's a stepson, let's say, is already 22 and living his life... And my biological daughter is 14 , and she's just wandering around. My daughter hasn't seen 'Los Serrano,' for example. Maybe she saw an episode at a friend's house, but whatever..." the actor told El Español, who keeps his family away from the media and has decided not to expose them on social media.
