Most expensive museums starting in 2026: San Domenico and Palazzo Tozzoni, ticket price increases expected.

Imola, August 9, 2025 – Visit Starting January 1, 2026, Imola's civic museums will be more expensive. The city council has approved updated pricing for San Domenico and Palazzo Tozzoni (the Rocca Sforzesca will reopen in early 2027), which includes both entrance tickets and some fees for museum and educational services. However, the increases for the latter will take effect earlier, starting September 1, in line with the school calendar.
Returning to admission tickets, the full price ticket will increase from 4 to 5 euros, a 25% increase. The reduced price ticket will also increase from 3 to 4 euros. Combined tickets for multiple museums, highly popular with visitors, will see more significant increases: the combined ticket for two museums will increase from 6 to 8 euros, while the combined ticket for three museums (including the Rocca, when it reopens) will increase from 8 to 10 euros. In both cases, no further reductions will be available.
Reduced- price tickets (applicable to single admission only) are reserved for those over 65, young people between 15 and 25, university students, groups of 15 or more, Touring Club Italiano members, FAI members (only for Palazzo Tozzoni), YoungER Card holders, and companions of disabled visitors. Free admission is guaranteed for children up to 14 years old, accompanied school groups, organized group leaders, journalists with a valid ICOM card, ICOM members, licensed tour guides, disabled visitors with a valid card, residents of Imola on Sunday mornings, and holders of the Città Metropolitana di Bologna Culture Card.
Educational and museum services , which are in high demand, especially among schools and groups, will also be subject to adjustments: workshops for school groups (cost per group) 80 euros; educational visits for school groups (cost per group) 60 euros; 'Giocamuseo' workshops (cost per participant) 8 euros; 'Happy Birthday at the Museum' (up to 17 participants) 110 euros, 150 euros for more than 17 participants; 'Summer at the Museum!' (cost per participant) 80 euros; 'A Night at the Museum' (cost per participant) 20 euros.
For non-school groups: guided tours (max 25 people) 1 museum (1.5 hours) 70 euros, 2 museums (3 hours) 120 euros; guided tours in a foreign language (max 25 people) 1 museum 90 euros, 2 museums 140 euros. The 'Grand Tour of Imola' costs 12 euros per participant, with reductions of 10 euros for seniors over 65, young people aged 13-18, university students, Touring Club members, YoungER Card or Card Cultura holders, and companions of disabled visitors. Admission is free for children up to 12 years old and disabled visitors with a valid card.
The Council also approved the updating of the price list of publications and materials sold in bookshops, with new titles and revisions to older editions.
In 2024, attendance at Imola's various museums was 35,745, a 15% increase compared to 2023. The San Domenico Museum led the way with 16,833 admissions, followed by Palazzo Tozzoni with 12,885 and the Rocca Sforzesca (open in January and February, however) with 6,027.
