A priest from Radom refused the pope's request. He resigns as bishop.

In mid-July, Pope Leo XIV appointed Father Krzysztof Dukielski, the former parish priest of St. John the Baptist Parish in Magnuszew, as bishop. Just weeks after the Holy See announced his appointment, the Polish priest resigned from his position as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Radom. The Pope accepted his request.
Radom Bishop Marek Solarczyk announced that Father Krzysztof Dukielski had sent a request to Pope Leo XIV to release him from the office of auxiliary bishop. " The Holy Father accepted Father Krzysztof Dukielski's request , releasing him from the office of auxiliary bishop. The Apostolic Nuncio, when conveying this news to me, ordered it to be made public," Bishop Marek Solarczyk said in a statement.

This situation is not the first in recent years. In 2019, Father Franciszek Ślusarczyk of the Archdiocese of Kraków was appointed bishop by Pope Francis, but before his ordination, the Pole resigned.
Who is Father Krzysztof Dukielski?Fr. Krzysztof Dukielski was born in Radom in 1978. He was ordained a priest in 2003 by Bishop Zygmunt Zimowski . He attended college in Rome and began his priestly ministry in Italy. Upon returning to Poland, he assumed the positions of deputy moderator of the Light-Life Movement in the Radom diocese and diocesan health care chaplain. He also served as deputy director of the National Office for World Youth Day . Since July 1, 2021, he has been pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Magnuszew .
