AKOM warned! Heavy rain is coming to Istanbul

A rain warning has been issued by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs Department (AKOM) for Istanbul and the Marmara Region, which is expected to be effective starting tomorrow morning. The Marmara Region, especially Istanbul, is under the influence of the low pressure system coming from the Central Mediterranean and the cool air coming from the Balkans.

It is estimated that rainfall will be effective locally and heavily throughout the province starting from early Monday morning (03:00) in the western regions such as Silivri and Çatalca until noon (15:00). Due to the system expected to be effective in the region until the middle of next week (Wednesday), it is predicted that intermittent showers and thunderstorms will occur and temperatures will be below seasonal norms between 17-22°C. In addition, dust from Africa will be carried due to the system, and it is predicted that the rainfall to be seen in Istanbul tonight and Monday may be muddy.

AKOM warns citizens to be prepared and take precautions against possible negative effects due to the expected heavy rains.
