Tens of thousands defended their will in Bursa! Özgür Özel: Those who stood up for a coup were defeated
Bursa was the address of the 'National Will' rallies that CHP started this week after the arrest of the Presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Banners reading "İmamoğlu is everywhere", "Oppression will not make us bow down, justice will prevail one day", and "A humane and just order where neither the oppressor nor the oppressed" were hung in the area where the rally was held in Bursa.
DEFINED SILIVRICHP Bursa Provincial Chairman Nihat Yeşiltaş read Ekrem İmamoğlu's message. İmamoğlu said the following in his message:
"The city of the dream of establishment, the city of sweat... The spiritual city of Türkiye... I offer you my warmest greetings from behind cold bars. This is Silivri... Just a few hundred kilometers away from you... This is the photograph of injustices and lawlessness. This is the X-ray film of the judicial mechanism that is being tried to be killed by hand. Despite all this pressure, since March 19, we have been defending the will of those who want to live without mixing the will of the people with what is lawful and what is forbidden. Our nation knows the reason for all these actions and the intentions of those who do them. Our nation does not take even a step back. It has long condemned this judicial coup against the freedom to choose its candidate. Because our nation believes that justice is the foundation of property. It believes that the state can only rise through justice. Justice can only stand with fairness, competence and conscience. We are here to prevent these foundations from being shaken. Bursa, do not forget that once the scales of justice are shaken, the rest will come like a sock unraveling. This city walks with its conscience. It stands by justice... This is exactly why The voice of Bursa becomes hope for Türkiye. Bursa, do not be afraid. Lean on each other and stand up. Join the honorable people who put an end to this injustice..."
After Yeşiltaş, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel took the stage. Addressing the people of Bursa, Özel said the following:
When there was a coup attempt against İmamoğlu, we went to Saraçhane. We resisted for 7 days and 7 nights in Saraçhane with hundreds of thousands, then millions, who heeded our call and ran. We said we would defend the national will. We said we would defend the will of the people... Those who rose up on the morning of March 19th, saying there was a coup, were astonished in the face of millions. They were defeated. Then we crossed the Bosphorus Bridge and made history in Maltepe. Those who declared 9 days as a holiday understood the seriousness of the situation when they saw 2.5 million people in Maltepe.
We came here not to rally but to take action. The ruling party acted as if it owned Bursa for years. They said Bursa was the AKP's stronghold, but on March 31st the nation said 'stop'. There are no such strongholds anymore. The politics of strongholds is behind us. Now there is a politics of embracing. Bursa is neither Tayyip Erdoğan's nor AKP's stronghold anymore. Bursa is the stronghold of the nation. We embrace that nation with its social democrats, socialists, nationalists, Kurdish democrats... Alevis, Sunnis. There are no more strongholds. Now all the strongholds belong to all of us. From now on, there is no such thing as CHP's stronghold. Let the strongholds end. Let polarization end. Let our strongholds be sacrificed for the unity of this nation. We have not been able to be the first party in Bursa since 77. If it happens in Bursa, it will happen in Türkiye. Just like the day it was founded, CHP is the first party in Bursa and Türkiye. In 2019, someone seized the trust given to us by the people of Bursa, without looking at our objections, with a difference of 47 thousand... We did not give up. We knew that if someone has an account, Bursa also has an account.
They want to continue their power without your consent. What happened on March 19th is not only a blow to the winner of the previous local elections, but also a blow to the next general elections, and if the nation so wishes, to our next President Ekrem İmamoğlu. The next President is determined by neither the military nor the chief prosecutors nor the parties... The next President is determined by a will, and that is the will of the nation. Just as there was the Ergenekon and Sledgehammer plot, this time we are faced with a judicial plot. Unfortunately, Erdoğan has come out and is talking about an octopus that no one else sees but he sees. He says, "Is it a carrier pigeon of the Özgür Özel crime organization?" No one sees the octopus except you. He was saying 66 days ago, "they will not be able to look each other in the face." Hey Erdoğan, 66 days have passed since he said that. Last Friday, I looked into the eyes of President Ekrem... I will look again. İmamoğlu is innocent... All of them are slanderers. You are slanderers. He is asking me, "Are you a carrier pigeon?" Look Mr. Erdoğan... At most, Özgür Özel would be a dove of peace. He was asking me, saying, 'Can you vouch for these?' I would vouch for President Ekrem and all my friends. In the past, you had another prosecutor... Zekeriya Öz. You gave him your own armored vehicle. Instead, you became the prosecutor of Ergenekon and Balyoz. You were slandering the Chief of General Staff of the country. I vouched for İlker Başbuğ. Their foreheads are held high. Today, they are on the streets. They say that Zekeriya Öz, whom you vouched for, fled to the US like a rat. Now, he says he is the prosecutor of this case again. He is trying to defend the new Zekeriya Öz... You said 'I was deceived' last time. There is no one to be deceived in this square... If there is justice in a country, the crime is found first... You find the crime and go after the criminal, but in Türkiye, instead of going from crime to criminal, there is an understanding that tries to invent crimes for people. The target is someone who 2 million CHP members and 15 million citizens support, who has defeated your candidates 4 times, and whom you cannot bend, and you are the one who targeted him and had his diploma cancelled so that he would not be a candidate... You are the one who sat at the table negotiating with his founder and slandered him by saying that he supports the PKK terrorist organization. You are the one who found a false witness despite finding a secret witness out of 3 pieces of wood... Not a single piece of evidence has been produced to date.
They said there was 560 billion lira of corruption, not 1 lira of which was proven.
