UN Security Council Adopts US Resolution on Ukraine in Its Original Form

The UN Security Council has adopted the American resolution on the conflict in Ukraine in its original form, rejecting amendments from both European countries and Russia, a TASS correspondent reports.
Ten members of the Security Council voted for the document, including Russia, the United States and China, five countries, including Great Britain and France, abstained from voting. To adopt a resolution in the UN Security Council, at least nine votes "for" and the absence of a veto from the permanent members, that is, the United States, Russia, China, Great Britain and France, are required.
The adopted resolution is written in a neutral tone, consists of two preambular paragraphs expressing grief for those killed in the conflict in Ukraine and emphasizing the role of the UN in maintaining international peace and security, as well as one operative paragraph that “calls for a rapid end to the conflict and the establishment of long-term peace between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.”
