Former Machinery and Chemical Industry President İsmet Sayhan Detained

As part of an investigation into an armed criminal organization in five provinces, centered in Istanbul, former Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) board chairman İsmet Sayhan was detained.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing its investigation into the armed criminal organization allegedly led by Selahattin Yılmaz.

Former MKE executive detained

As part of the investigation, former MKE board chairman Sayhan was identified as having ties to a criminal organization. Following an arrest warrant, Sayhan was detained yesterday in Ankara by security forces.

The suspect is expected to be transferred from the Istanbul Police Department to the Istanbul Courthouse tomorrow.

There were 17 detentions

Seventeen suspects were detained as part of operations targeting the organized crime group, which were conducted in Ankara, Antalya, Muğla and Samsun, along with operations centered in Istanbul.

Following procedures at the police station, 10 suspects, including Selahattin Yılmaz, were referred to the courthouse and arrested by the judge to whom they were brought, while 7 were released, 6 of whom were placed on judicial control. (SPUTNIK)
